Aunty Rayzor

Rapper and singer based in Lagos, Nigeria, Aunty Rayzor crafts her world at the crossroads of hip‑hop, electronic music and Afro‑urban heritage. After early steps in family church choirs, she made her mark on Lagos’s rap battle scene, where her fast, razor‑sharp delivery earned her the name Aunty Rayzor and the self‑designation “Naija Thugress.” Her writing alternates between pidgin, Yoruba and English, driven by a frontal flow that suits both highly rhythmic electro productions and afrohouse or afrobeat textures. Aunty Rayzor gained wider attention in the early 2020s with the track “Kuku Corona,” directly tied to the pandemic context in Nigeria, and went on to release freestyles, singles and collaborations with East Africa’s experimental club scene. From 2021 she joined the Ugandan collective and label Nyege Nyege in Kampala, with whom she recorded her debut album, “Viral Wreckage,” released in 2023 and conceived as a radical extension of her rap into harsher electronic forms.
