Summoning the Lich

Formed in Saint Louis, Missouri, Summoning the Lich evolves in a technical death metal nourished by a heroic fantasy imagery, with a marked taste for conceptual narratives and taut structures. The band brings together David Bruno on vocals, Ryan Felps and Nick Muckerman on guitars, John Flynn on bass, and Uncpole Jones on drums. Appearing in the late 2010s on the American extreme metal scene, the group develops a sound that combines rhythmic precision, brutal accelerations, staccato passages and more melodic lines, without straying from legible writing. Summoning the Lich released the album United in Chaos in 2021, where the Arrias narrative universe is established, later extended by Under the Reviled Throne in 2024 on Prosthetic Records. Between these two releases, Summoning the Lich plays numerous dates in the United States and notably shares the bill with Allegaeon, Gorod or Inferi, in a circuit where technical death metal, brutal death and extreme progressive metal intersect. At Summoning the Lich, virtuosity remains at the service of the songs, with an alternation of growls, incisive riffs and sequences that are more immediately memorable, giving the whole a clear identity in the contemporary death metal landscape.
