ECHT!

Formed in Brussels in 2017, ECHT! brings together four Belgian musicians whose work sits at the intersection of contemporary jazz, instrumental hip‑hop and club electronic music. The quartet develops a collective writing style strongly centered on rhythm, featuring thick basslines, repetitive motifs, sharp breaks and ensemble playing that often blurs the perception of individual instruments in favor of a dense, shifting sonic mass. After the EP Douf in 2019, ECHT! refined this language on INWANE (2021) and then Sink‑Along (2023), progressively widening its spectrum toward faster tempos and references to British club scenes, drum and bass, footwork and acid. This evolution remains tied to a strong live practice, which has taken ECHT! to numerous European stages, to festivals such as Nuits Sonores, Dour and Lowlands, and to venues like Ancienne Belgique in Brussels and the Jazz Café in London.
