Picon Mon Amour

Picon Mon Amour takes the form of a duo, joined in life as on stage, with Lauren on accordion, ukulele and vocals, and Jojo on various bass instruments and drums, singing and performing clowning. The project sits in a vein of festive, theatrical francophone chanson, nourished by humor, a sense of offbeat contrast and a direct rapport with the audience. With Picon Mon Amour, the songs become a musical show where the intimate, the burlesque and stagecraft move together, without a clear separation between concert, performance and stage act. Both the writing and the interpretation circulate couple situations, deliberate excesses and a spontaneity that gives the duo a strongly embodied presence. With light, mobile instrumentation, Picon Mon Amour develops lively, often danceable songs that are sometimes tender or ironically shaded, conceived as an exchange with the room rather than as a simple recital.
