Talisk
Formed in Glasgow in 2015, Talisk belongs to the Scottish instrumental folk tradition and currently performs as a trio centered on Mohsen Amini, Benedict Morris and Charlie Galloway. The band blends Scottish and Celtic traditions in a taut interplay of concertina, fiddle and guitar, featuring fast rhythms, repetitive, trance-like motifs and more melodic breaths. Talisk emerged immediately by winning the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award in 2015 and has since established itself on the Scottish trad scene through tours and festivals. Their discography includes Abyss (2016), Beyond (2018) and Dawn (2022), followed by the live album Live at the Barrowlands (2024). The group's history also includes several lineup changes: guitarist Craig Irving left and was replaced by Graeme Armstrong; fiddler Hayley Keenan departed in 2021 and was succeeded by Benedict Morris; Charlie Galloway joined in 2023. In this configuration, Talisk continues to pursue an instrumental, no‑vocals repertoire built on collective drive and a tight focus on dynamics.
