LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER

Under the name LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER, Sam Battle has developed in England a project at the intersection of indie, alternative and DIY electronics that brings together pop songwriting, synthetic textures and a taste for repurposing. Born in Grantham, Lincolnshire, he initially performed with ZIBRA as the band's vocalist, appearing notably on BBC Introducing at Glastonbury in 2015, at Field Day and as support for Years & Years. From 2016, LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER became the main focus of his musical work, alongside a video practice dedicated to building instruments and putting vintage technologies back into use. This approach informs a direct, often melodic music threaded with atypical sounds and a strong artisanal logic. LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER released the EP Human Procrastination in 2019, the album These Songs Are Obsolete in 2020, followed by Kosmo Comes for Christmas in 2023 and Double Barelled Decadence in 2024. In 2022 Sam Battle also took part in the Uncompressed project with Hainbach and Cuckoo, presented among others at Sónar, and he continues in Ramsgate to develop This Museum Is (Not) Obsolete, a space devoted to experimental instruments and reactivated vintage devices.
