Svaneborg Kardyb

Trained in Denmark, the duo Svaneborg Kardyb brings together keyboardist Nikolaj Svaneborg and drummer-percussionist Jonas Kardyb around a pared-down contemporary jazz marked by Nordic minimalism, influences from Scandinavian folk and an ambient sensibility. The duo's first releases, the albums 'Knob' (2019) and 'Haven' (2020), established a language based on simple melodic motifs, subtle electronic touches and a strong focus on space and dynamics, where the dialogue between keys and drums forms the centre of gravity. With 'Over Tage' (2022), released on the British label Gondwana Records, the duo broadened its reach beyond Scandinavia and became part of a network of jazz and experimental scenes across Europe. Svaneborg Kardyb's music blends slow, repetitive compositions, muted grooves and echoes of Nordic chants and hymns, favouring texture and atmosphere over demonstrative virtuosity, both in the studio and in often intimate live settings.
