Ásgeir

A leading figure on the Icelandic music scene, Ásgeir will perform at La Maroquinerie in Paris on 18 September 2026. First revealed by Dýrð í dauðaþögn—quickly issued in English as In The Silence (2014)—he has since forged a clear line between intimate folk and a pop that is both spare and precise. Afterglow (2017), Bury The Moon (2020) and Time On My Hands (2022) have further refined that path, blending songs in Icelandic and English with a gentle voice, acoustic guitars, understated keyboards and subtle electronic touches.

In recent years Ásgeir has favoured a solo format in intimate venues across Europe and the Nordic countries, while also branching out into other settings, from the Iceland Symphony Orchestra to Arte TV. As he prepares his next album, he is pushing his songwriting toward something more personal, where relationships, the passage of time, hope and nostalgia come to the fore. On stage, that organic, emotive material is present, threaded with influences ranging from Leonard Cohen to contemporary artists, for a concert focused on the essentials: songs that move straight ahead, without needless effects, and a presence that fosters intimacy.
