Salebarbes

Salebarbes plays Théâtre Manuvie in Brossard on 21 February 2027. Formed by Acadian musicians from New Brunswick and the Magdalen Islands, the band taps into francophone traditions from Acadie to Louisiana. It’s a collective of singer-songwriters who trade voices and instruments, shaping a sound that blends folk and cajun with shades of country and rock. On stage, Salebarbes leans into dance rhythms, stacked choruses and the pulse of two-steps, sung in an Acadian French that keeps stories and everyday language upfront. The repertoire mixes originals and pieces from the traditional songbook, captured first on the live album Live au Pas Perdus (2019), then refined on Gin à l’eau salée (2021) and À boire deboutte (2023). Fiddle, accordion and guitars lead the way, while arrangements stay clear and direct, built for singing along and moving together. Between reels, mid-tempo ballads and road songs, the group connects party music, popular memory and a contemporary North American francophone culture.
