Cock Robin

When you think of Cock Robin, you think of that quintessential 80s pop rock where synths and guitars cross effortlessly, with a strong sense of melody. The band formed in San Francisco around songwriter and singer Peter Kingsbery, and was defined by the interplay of two voices: his timbre in contrast to Anna LaCazio's bright vocals. That duel gave their songs a distinctive tension, somewhere between new wave, melodic pop, and rock, with a direct, polished writing style.

In the second half of the 80s, the albums Cock Robin (1985), After Here Through Midland (1987) and First Love: Last Rites (1989) followed, with a career that was unusually strong in Europe. After a hiatus in the 1990s, Cock Robin returned with new material from 2006 onward, and the lineup gradually evolved toward a configuration around Kingsbery, later augmented by singer Coralie Vuillemin. That later period remains faithful to the band's DNA, with a mix of 80s heritage, rock ballads and more atmospheric arrangements, heard on releases such as Chinese Driver (2016) and Homo Alien (2021).
