Jimmy Sax

Jimmy Sax arrives in Avignon on 19 March 2027, on the Confluence stage. Under this name, French saxophonist and composer Jim Rolland presents a project oriented toward electronic music, with the saxophone front and center. His musical language crosses melodic house and deep house, slips toward instrumental pop with jazz undertones, and relies on memorable themes extended by long improvisations. On stage, he performs in direct contact with the audience, straddling club spirit and concert: electronic energy, acoustic texture, and playing that is reactive to the moment. Trained as a saxophonist and a multi-instrumentalist, he weaves his lines over rhythms designed for dancing, then opens the space through improvisation. A regular on stages across Europe, North America, the Middle East and the Caribbean, Jimmy Sax condenses that experience into a set crafted for live performance. At Confluence, audiences come for a sax lead that dialogues with the machine, clear build-ups, and a performance in which improvisation plays a central role.
