Caifanes

Caifanes lands in Madrid on April 26, 2026, for a concert at Sala But. A benchmark of rock en español, the group—born in Mexico City in the late eighties—blends alternative rock, new wave and post‑punk echoes with imagery and rhythms that look to Mexico. Saúl Hernández’s voice and Alfonso André’s drumming sustain a pulse that in concert ranges from electric jolts to more hypnotic passages without losing tension, amid dark guitars, keyboards with an ’80s DNA and lyrics that move between the urban and the mystical.

Their repertoire draws on the band’s different stages: the self‑titled debut of 1988 with its somber tone and new wave‑inflected keyboards; El Diablito (1990), which reveals contrasts between raw energy and psychedelia; El silencio (1992), refining clear melodies and pulses rooted in tradition; and El nervio del volcán (1994), sonically more upfront while retaining the melodic line. After their split in 1995, Caifanes returned to the stage in the 2010s and has since toured around a core made up of Hernández and André. In Madrid, the set is expected to trace that history, with tight arrangements and a band that brings guitars, keys and percussion together without artifice.
