Born in Seattle in 1983, Aaron Parks has made a name for himself in New York in the early 2000s, first as a sideman with Terence Blanchard, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and Joshua Redman, before asserting a highly personal musical universe at the piano. His jazz rests on a post-bop foundation but welcomes textures of indie rock, pop, and ambient, with melodic writing and atmospheres that are often more inward than demonstrative. With his project Little Big, Parks raises the scale and the voltage: a format designed for electric energy, a rock pulse, and a taste for instrumental song. After Little Big (2018), Little Big II: Dreams of a Mechanical Man (2020) and Little Big III (2022), he arrives in Paris with this repertoire for a set where improvisation rubs shoulders with crisp grooves and atmospheres that are very clearly drawn.
