MOMOKO GILL (UK)
After a childhood between the United States and Japan, Momoko Gill settled in London, where she has carved out a place on the experimental scene. Drummer, keyboardist, producer, composer and singer, she has been seen alongside Alabaster DePlume, Tirzah, Coby Sey, or Nadeem Din-Gabisi. Her music ranges between spiritual jazz, diffuse trip-hop textures and more soulful or ambient textures, carried by drums with a deft touch and a hushed, intimate voice. Her debut album on Strut, produced by Matthew Herbert, sketches a very personal territory, made of space, nuance and flexible rhythms.
MELISSA WEIKART TRIO (FR/US)
Franco-American, Melissa Weikart builds a central bond between piano and voice, with a journey that ranges from classical to freer forms, nourished by jazz, 70s folk-pop and improvisation (notably at the New England Conservatory in Boston). Alongside the Béatrice Melissa duo, she develops a project where the song twists and reinvents itself in small shifts. Winner of the Nancy Jazz Pulsations 2022 spotlight and of the instrumentalist prize at the La Défense National Jazz Competition 2023, she comes to present in trio the tracks from her forthcoming album to be released on Midnight Special.
