Daudi Matsiko — October 26 at Pop-Up du Label.
The debut album by British-Ugandan singer-songwriter Daudi Matsiko, The King of Misery, explores depression, bipolar disorder and the search for hope through those experiences.
His voice, lyrics and modern folk melodies have attracted the attention of Gilles Peterson, Lauren Laverne, Jamz Supernova, Dean Jackson, Sian Eleri, Jamie Cullum, Tom Robinson, John Kennedy, Simon Phillips, as well as comedian and podcaster Adam Buxton.
Matsiko founded his own label, Really Good, to release his debut album.
Since its release, The King of Misery has received four stars in Mojo and Far Out magazines, has been featured on several Spotify editorial playlists and was the subject of a cover story on Bandcamp Weekly.
Matsiko also gave a performance and interview on episode 215 of the Adam Buxton podcast, and recorded a session at BBC Maida Vale Studios for Gilles Peterson on BBC Radio 6 Music.
