Info
Dub Vendor marks 50 years with a line-up rooted in sound system culture and the Fashion Records orbit. On Friday 25 September 2026, the celebration lands at The Clapham Grand, 21–25 St John’s Hill, London SW11 1TT, for a night that traces reggae’s UK–JA conversation across lovers rock, dancehall and ragga jungle.
Cutty Ranks brings the hard-cut deejay style forged on Jamaican sound systems, a gravelly voice and clipped phrasing that ride classic 90s riddims as naturally as hip-hop-leaning beats. From Gun Man Lyrics and The Stopper to later collaborations that stretched his range, his catalogue sits at the crossroads of dancehall directness and international reach.
Top Cat carries the energy of the London sound system circuit into the rave era, bridging dancehall to the breakbeat rush of jungle. His toasting is brisk and rhythmic, built for quick-fire call-and-response and dubplate culture, with staples like Request the Style and Push Up Yu Lighter anchoring a set that leans into UK ragga heritage.
Peter Hunnigale adds the lovers rock and roots balance. A south London singer with a supple tenor, he moves from romantic cuts to conscious themes, steeped in discomix tradition and collaborations that link Brixton studios to Kingston producers. Expect melody-led tunes that sit easily alongside deeper, dub-tinged selections.
Together they sketch five decades of reggae’s evolution in London, from yard-style mic work to homegrown anthems and dancefloor pressure.
