Info

On 13 June 2026, O2 Forum Kentish Town in London brings together Groundation and Hollie Cook for a reggae pairing that spans scenes and generations.

Formed in Northern California at the end of the 1990s around singer-guitarist Harrison Stafford, Groundation has built a roots sound shaped by jazz training and collective interplay. Their music leans on long-form structures, brass arrangements and dub-inflected space, with grooves that open up to improvisation and dialogues between keys and guitar. Lyrically, they trace spiritual currents, Rastafari heritage and social questions, keeping a clear line to 1970s Jamaican roots while speaking from a North American vantage point.

Hollie Cook follows a path of her own within reggae, blending light pop contours, Caribbean influences and a touch of soul. After a stint with The Slits, she launched a solo project she calls tropical pop, where warm vocals meet detailed arrangements. From her 2011 debut through Happy Hour in 2022, she has refined soft-focus textures and a clear melodic sense, crafting songs that feel intimate without losing pulse. Together, this bill links Cook’s luminous songwriting with Groundation’s expansive roots explorations.
