Info
UB40 bring their blend of reggae, pop and rock to Berlin: the band will play the Uber Eats Music Hall on 10 March 2026. Founded in the late ’70s in Birmingham, emerging from the British working-class milieu and named after the form for claiming unemployment benefits, UB40 early on attracted attention with politically grounded reggae and traces of dub. Signing Off (1980) and Present Arms (1981) mark this phase, before Labour of Love (from 1983) opened a new chapter with a series of reinterpretations of classic reggae songs. Later the group moved further toward catchy pop melodies, for example on Promises and Lies (1993).
Live, UB40 rely on distinctive brass, relaxed midtempo grooves and a mix of original compositions and reworkings, which they deliver with precision and melody. The setlist links early, socially tinged tracks with selections from the Labour of Love series and more recent releases. After various lineup changes in the 2000s, the band now tours in a configuration that combines long-standing members and new voices, with a sound that keeps its roots in British reggae while remaining open to pop sensibility. Berlin will thus get a cross-section of several decades of UB40 — compact, melodic and firmly anchored in the groove.
