Info
On April 8, 2027, at The Glasshouse – International Centre for Music in Gateshead, Spiritualized brings its “Acoustic Mainlines” show, a stripped-back angle on Jason Pierce’s long-running space-rock universe. Built around Pierce since the band’s start in 1990 after Spacemen 3, Spiritualized has always thrived on contrasts: hypnotic repetition and sudden swells, raw bluesy grit next to gospel-like lift, shoegaze haze against moments of clean, simple songcraft.
In an acoustic setting, those signatures land differently. The drones and long forms that shaped early records like Lazer Guided Melodies and Pure Phase can turn intimate and close-up, while the spiritual glow that later opened out on Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space feels more direct, less about volume and more about tension and release. Expect familiar material reframed with space to breathe, leaning into melody, pulse, and the band’s taste for stretching a simple idea until it becomes its own atmosphere.
