Info
Northern Soul Orchestrated lands at London’s Royal Festival Hall on 11 November 2026 with the BBC Concert Orchestra at the core of the night. Built for the airwaves but always up for bending formats, this 50-piece ensemble brings its studio-sharp precision to the ecstatic, dancefloor-driven side of soul.
Curated and hosted by Stuart Maconie, with Joe Duddell conducting and a handpicked line-up of singers, the show reframes Northern Soul through full orchestral arrangements: the rush of rare American B-sides, the punchy grooves, the strings that lift a chorus, the brass that hits like a club sound system. It’s less about nostalgia than about reconnecting with what made the movement work in the first place: communal release, sweat, and melody, now scaled up for a concert hall without losing the beat.
