Info
Mario Canonge – piano; Michel Zenino – double bass
After more than two decades of close musical collaboration, Mario Canonge and Michel Zenino are relaunching their residency at Le Baiser Salé, as a ritual awaited every Wednesday by a loyal audience. Since 2006, this piano–double bass duo has established an exacting format, with no artifice or compromise, where every note, every silence matters. The absence of drums, far from being a constraint, becomes a playground where concentration, mutual listening, and sensitivity are central.
On stage at Le Baiser Salé, Canonge, a prominent figure in Caribbean jazz, and Zenino, a double bassist with precise phrasing, revisit jazz standards with inventive flair, from Thelonious Monk to Ornette Coleman, while infusing them with their Creole and Latin roots and their love of cross-cultural blending. This residency, an improvisation laboratory, blends tradition and modernity, nourished by years of uninterrupted musical dialogue.
An occasion for lovers of live, free, embodied jazz.
