Info
Mario Canonge, piano
Michel Zenino, double bass
Like a ritual eagerly anticipated every Wednesday by a loyal and passionate audience, after more than two decades of musical partnership, Mario Canonge and Michel Zenino are back at Baiser Salé. Since 2006, this piano–double bass duo has established a demanding and intense format, without artifice or compromise, where every note, every silence matters. The absence of drums becomes a playground where concentration, mutual listening, and sensitivity are at the heart of the music. On stage, Canonge, a figure of Caribbean jazz, and Zenino, a bassist with precise phrasing, creatively revisit the great jazz standards with ingenuity, from Thelonious Monk to Ornette Coleman, while infusing them with their Creole and Latin roots and their love of hybridity. This residency, an improvisation laboratory, blends tradition and modernity, nourished by years of uninterrupted musical dialogue.
An encounter for jazz lovers who seek living, free, embodied music.
