Quint’Up brings together five musicians around jazz nourished by hard bop, Caribbean rhythms, and a spirit of shared energy. Led by Mario Canonge and Michel Zenino, this quintet offers jazz anchored in hard bop, threaded with Caribbean rhythms and a desire to share.
Here, everything is movement: melodies dance, improvisations soar, and grooves take hold. Alex Duthil, on Open Jazz on France Musique, speaks of “a torrent of energy, swing, mastery, and swaying grooves.”
Alongside Canonge and Zenino are Arnaud Dolmen, a prominent drummer of his generation and Victoires du Jazz laureate, Josiah Woodson, a Grammy Award–winning trumpeter, and Ricardo Izquierdo, a Cuban saxophonist renowned for the richness of his playing.
Every two months, the meetings invite an artist or group to pick up the thread. Concert after concert, the music deepens, repertoires are reinvented and new perspectives open.
