On January 29, 2027, the Glenn Miller Memorial Orchestra will take up residence at the Théâtre Jean Ferrat in Fourmies with a full big band, eighteen musicians on stage, to dive back into the golden age of swing. Here, everything rests on the precision of the arrangements, the grain of the reeds and brass, and the energy of dance music that has defined the Glenn Miller repertoire.
As the evening's crooner, Paul Wood opens the night, paying homage to Frank Sinatra with standards such as New York, New York and Come Fly With Me. Beside him, Fiona Paige shifts register and slips into the nuances of Ella Fitzgerald and Peggy Lee, balancing elegance, swing, and jazz phrasing.
After the intermission, a return to the heart of the catalog: In The Mood, Moonlight Serenade, and the irresistible Sing Sing Sing, to recapture the sound of a real big band, between riffs, reprises and great melodies.
