Info
Keg have been experimenting with their sound ever since their conception. Over the six years as a band they have garnered attention for their frenetic live performances and commitment to not settling on one sound. Their new album Relaxing Near the Hospital only further supports this ideology. At once tender and vitriolic, the album is full of contradiction, each song taking a sojourn into their myriad of influences. From hefty chunks of hardcore to Steely Dan leaning croonerish tracks, the album is reminiscent of Ween in its commitment to a noncommittal sound. What feels new is a level of vulnerability which has often been hinted at in previous releases, but here feels more established.
The band have released two EPs, Assembly (2021) and Girders (2022), garnering attention from Loud and Quiet, NME, Dork, So Young and support from BBC Radio 6 and Radio X. DIY are strong supporters of the band, awarding them a slot in their Class of 2023. Their debut album Fun's Over charted in the top 75 in the overall album charts, 10 in Record Store charts and in the top 25 in Independent Album charts, and received several 4/5 and 8/10 reviews.
