On 17 February 2027, Saxon arrives at the 3Olympia Theatre in Dublin. Led since its inception by singer Biff Byford, the band is one of those outfits that has anchored British heavy metal firmly in the hard edge, with crisp riffs, steady tempos, and lyrics that stay close to real life: the working day, motorcycles, history, war, and epic electric odysseys.
Since the band’s self-titled 1979 debut, Saxon has issued classics that defined the momentum of the 1980s, from Wheels of Steel to Strong Arm of the Law, followed by Denim and Leather. The run that followed, including Power & the Glory, Crusader, and Solid Ball of Rock, saw the lineup shift without ever veering from the course: melodic heavy metal, sometimes more kinetic, tailored for the live stage.
Still active, the group continues to enrich its discography across the decades, from Lionheart to Sacrifice, Thunderbolt, Carpe Diem, up to Hell, Fire and Damnation. On stage, Saxon remains faithful to its DNA: straight-ahead metal, delivered with a powerful vocal performance, and built to be sung along by the crowd.
