Info
Eva Ayllón brings the pulse of Lima’s música criolla and Afro-Peruvian traditions to London on 31 July 2026 at Electric Brixton. Active since the 1970s, she has built a repertoire where vals criollo meets landó, festejo and marinera, carried by nuanced phrasing and the cajón’s heartbeat. On stage she favours an intimate, guitar-driven ensemble with percussion and chorus, opening space for narrative songs, dance-ready grooves and call-and-response rooted in the Pacific coast.
Across more than thirty albums, Ayllón has revisited classics by Chabuca Granda and authors from different generations while developing original material; her trajectory includes multiple Latin Grammy nominations and a Lifetime Achievement award. This London date revisits that songbook with arrangements shaped for the room: lyrical vals that linger, landós that unfold slowly, and festejos that move forward with earthy swing. Expect a set that traces the arc of her career without losing sight of the essentials—voice, story, rhythm—delivered by a band steeped in the tradition.
