With influences ranging from Fats Domino and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band to Aretha Franklin and Tom Waits, the band has performed from Vancouver to Miami and across Europe.
Davina and the Vagabonds formed in 2004. Davina Sowers grew up in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Through her stepfather and his Edison phonograph, she first heard the Ink Spots, Sidney Bechet, Louis Armstrong and Louis Prima, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, and others.
She also listened to Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and Simon and Garfunkel.
Davina and the Vagabonds have performed in forty-five states, twelve European countries, and two Canadian provinces. They have performed on Later... with Jools Holland and appeared on PBS's Bluegrass Underground.
