Shalamar: « The Gold Tour - A Fifty Year Celebration »

Info

Born in mid-70s Los Angeles out of the Soul Train orbit, Shalamar grew from a studio concept into a vocal trio that fused R&B, soul-funk and disco with tight harmonies and club-shaped grooves. Through their SOLAR Records years and the classic line-up of Jody Watley, Jeffrey Daniel and Howard Hewett, the group moved from the disco glide of Uptown Festival and Disco Gardens to the punch and polish of Big Fun and Three for Love, then into early-80s electronics on Friends and The Look. Jeffrey Daniel’s street-dance presence helped carry their sound and style across the Atlantic, anchoring a long-running UK connection.

The Gold Tour marks fifty years of grooves, with a live set tracing that arc: silky ballads, dancefloor cuts and sleek, synth-leaning R&B, delivered with the vocal blend and stage craft that defined them. From their formative disco roots to the more electronic sheen of the early eighties, the show revisits the catalogue that kept Shalamar on soul and funk playlists for decades. Shalamar bring this fifty-year celebration to Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Liverpool, on 13 June 2026.
