The Proclaimers bring their straight-talking folk rock to O2 City Hall Newcastle in Newcastle upon Tyne on 25 October 2026. Twin brothers Craig and Charlie Reid formed the duo in 1983 in Leith, starting out with two voices and guitars before opening up to a fuller band sound. Their writing mixes brisk melodies, close harmonies and lyrics that weave personal stories with social observation, carried by a distinctive Scottish accent. The set reaches across their catalogue: early songs like Letter from America and Sunshine on Leith, I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles), and later chapters including Life with You, Angry Cyclist and Dentures Out. On stage, they move between stripped-back arrangements and a more driving group dynamic, giving the material different contours while keeping the focus on the songs. Across four decades, their music has kept a clear line between folk, roots and pop influences, with a directness that suits the live experience.
