Kool and The Gang

On July 31, 2026 at the Théâtre Jean-Deschamps in Carcassonne, Kool & The Gang unfolded more than five decades of groove spanning funk, soul and disco. Formed in 1969 around brothers Robert “Kool” Bell and Ronald Khalis Bell in Jersey City, the band shaped a sound in which bass lines, brass and guitar riffs lead the dance. From the early bursts of Wild & Peaceful and “Jungle Boogie” to their 1980s R&B transformation with “Ladies’ Night” and “Celebrate!”, their repertoire has fueled clubs as well as hip-hop, often sampled and reinterpreted.

On stage, Kool & The Gang lines up the classics that made them famous — from “Get Down On It” to “Cherish,” including “Summer Madness” and “Open Sesame” — not to mention more recent tracks from Perfect Union or the single “Let’s Party.” The current lineup carries forward the group’s collective momentum, with precise brass arrangements, warm vocals and dance-tailored grooves. A concert that compresses the history of American groove into a single set, powered by a band that’s still on the move.
