Kraak & Smaak

On 22 October 2026 Kraak & Smaak will perform live at the Melkweg in Amsterdam. The Leiden-based producer trio—Oscar de Jong, Wim Plug and Mark Kneppers—has been moving fluidly since the early 2000s between nu-disco, house, broken beat and pop, with organic grooves, melodic basslines and a penchant for soulful vocals. Releases such as Boogie Angst, Plastic People and later Juicy Fruit and Scirocco have sharpened that hybrid signature: tightly conceived studio productions that simultaneously reach for the club floor.

On stage Kraak & Smaak opt for the band approach. Tracks are stripped down, amped up and re-coloured with live drums, warm synths and forward-driving bass. From laid-back downtempo to no-nonsense dancefloor material: the set shifts easily in tempo and texture without losing the hook. Don’t expect a retro show, but a contemporary cross-section of their catalogue and influences, where disco, funk and house intersect without frills. Their own label Boogie Angst remains a fertile ground for new collaborations and surprises, which often gain an extra layer live. At the Melkweg it’s therefore all about movement: tracks that breathe, grooves that stick and a trio that translates its studio DNA into full-band energy.
