Info

On 15 November 2026 at The Academy in Dublin, From the Jam revisits the catalogue of The Jam, a band whose sharp writing and tight grooves left a clear mark on British punk and the mod revival. Formed in Woking, The Jam fused punk rock, new wave and power pop with a strong 1960s backbone of beat, soul and rhythm and blues. First cutting their teeth on Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Motown covers, they quickly moved toward taut, melodic originals shaped by Paul Weller’s pen and Bruce Foxton’s front-and-centre bass lines.

Across six studio albums — In the City and This Is the Modern World in 1977, All Mod Cons (1978), Setting Sons (1979), Sound Affects (1980) and The Gift (1982) — the trio shifted from raw urgency to more crafted arrangements, bringing in soul accents and pop contours without losing their edge. Their songs carry a distinctly English sense of place and social observation, pairing punchy riffs with narrative detail.

This show dives into that songbook, from early blasts to later, more nuanced turns, tracing how those tracks still hit live: brisk tempos, clipped guitars, muscular bass and melodic hooks built for a room like The Academy. A night anchored in the sound and spirit of The Jam, played for longtime fans and anyone curious about that era’s mix of energy and precision.
