From the Jam
Born in England in the direct wake of The Jam, From the Jam took shape in 2006 under the name The Gift around Rick Buckler, former drummer of the original group, with Russell Hastings and David Moore, before adopting its current name when Bruce Foxton joined the ensemble permanently on bass and vocals. The project is primarily devoted to live performances of The Jam's repertoire, with an approach rooted in mod revival, punk rock and British power pop, blending nervy rhythms, dry guitars and direct melodies. From the Jam first developed on British stages and then toured North America, Australia and New Zealand from 2007 and 2008. Over the years, the lineup evolved around Russell Hastings, who remained at the band's core, while Rick Buckler left the venture in 2009 and several drummers succeeded one another, including Mark Brzezicki, Steve Barnard and then Mike Randon. The story of From the Jam also intersects with the albums recorded by Bruce Foxton with Russell Hastings, notably Back in the Room (2012), Smash the Clock (2016) and The Butterfly Effect (2022), which extend this concise, melodic and taut English rock aesthetic. In 2025, Bruce Foxton announced his withdrawal from the remaining dates planned with From the Jam for health reasons.
