Info
The Frights bring their scrappy mix of surf, garage and punk to Toronto to celebrate ten years of You Are Going To Hate This at Lee’s Palace on July 22, 2026. Formed near San Diego in the early 2010s around Mikey Carnevale and Richard Dotson, the band sharpened its identity on that 2016 album, produced by Zac Carper of FIDLAR and released on Dangerbird. The record tightened their writing while keeping the jittery hooks, fuzzed guitars and doo-wop flashes that gave their early tracks bite. Since then, The Frights have pushed into more direct, introspective territory on Hypochondriac (Epitaph, 2018), followed by the stripped, reflective Everything Seems Like Yesterday (2020) and Gallows Humour (2023). On stage, their set leans on quick tempos, shout-along refrains and a taut rhythm section that keeps the tension humming, with You Are Going To Hate This at the heart of the night.
Mexican Slum Rats join the bill, opening the evening and setting the tone with a raw, melodic edge that pairs neatly with The Frights’ restless energy.
