Info
Dutch composer and pianist Joep Beving brings a solo piano recital to The Bronson in Ottawa on October 17, 2026. His music sits between neoclassical, minimalism and ambient, built on slow-blooming motifs, clear harmonies and a soft, weighted touch. On stage, Beving lets melodies breathe, working with silence, sustain and resonance to draw out detail rather than force momentum. The result is an intimate flow where small shifts matter and the piano’s afterglow becomes part of the score.
The program will likely trace pieces from Solipsism and Prehension through Henosis and Hermetism, alongside newer material. Beving’s live approach extends his studio work without showmanship: a grand piano, patient arcs, and a focus on tone, decay and the grain of the instrument. It’s music that invites close listening, easing from meditative figures into discreet climaxes and back again. A special guest is to be announced, but the heart of the evening is Beving’s distinctive way of shaping time and space at the keyboard.
