Info
On 12 August 2026, Nation of Language will play the Täubchenthal in Leipzig. The New York trio around singer Ian Devaney moves between synth-pop and post-punk: pulsating synthesizers, distinctive basslines, cool drum machines and melodies with a slightly dark shimmer. Their debut, Introduction, Presence, laid the foundation; A Way Forward (2021) opened them up to a wider audience and led to an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. In 2023 they released Strange Disciple, which sharpens their approach and clearly frames the contrast between Eighties nostalgia and present-day tension.
Live, Nation of Language rely on driving patterns, clean arrangements and a voice that unobtrusively pushes the songs forward. The band has honed its sound on major festivals such as Primavera Sound, Bonnaroo, Pitchfork Festival, Outside Lands, Desert Daze and Austin City Limits — a set that gets straight to the point, is danceable and still leaves room for quiet moments. In Leipzig, this blend of hypnosis and hook, of synthetic warmth and urban melancholy meets a stage that brings out its details: crisp grooves, subtle melodies and a persistent drive.
