On May 13, 2026 Makaya McCraven returns to Milan, taking the stage at Santeria Toscana 31 with a set that brings his laboratory to life through jazz, groove and real‑time editing. A drummer, composer and producer raised between Chicago and the international scene, McCraven presents material from four new EPs – Techno Logic, The People’s Mixtape, Hidden Out! and PopUp Shop – released on October 31, continuing the trajectory opened by In These Times (2022).

In concert his method takes shape: long improvised flows become compact songs, layered rhythms intertwine with hip‑hop patterns, and samples and electronic textures merge with the ensemble’s playing. The set alternates elastic pulses and interlocking beats, leaving room for interplay and for forms that are redefined in the moment. Between nods to jazz tradition and a contemporary sensibility, McCraven reassembles the material live, bringing stage and studio together in an open flow that centers rhythm, the collective and attentive listening.
