Stella Zekri describes her mixing style as guided by emotion rather than by millimetric precision in beatmatching; in other words, it’s about playing with soul.

After moving to Berlin in 2015, she discovered a passion for collecting records, beginning with hip-hop, funk, soul, jazz and boogie. She soon started receiving invitations to spin her collection in bars, just as she began going out to dance in the city’s clubs. Her broader exploration of electronic dance music grew naturally from there. In that sense, Stella’s practice as a DJ began with record collecting and expanded into work as a selector and dancer, which is clearly reflected in her sound: her sets convey warmth to the body and keep it alive, blending carefully chosen cuts with a tactile intuition and a respect for the dancefloor that a vinyl DJ can have.

Over the years, Stella has become part of Berlin’s clubbing community, adopting an old-school approach to the DJ as a community role. Today she is recognized for her knowledge of classic, groove-driven house and disco, as well as deep dubs and acid.
