Stella

Born in Paris and based in Berlin, Stella, also credited as Stella Zekri, develops a repertoire at the crossroads of zouk, boogie, French pop and club sounds inspired by the mid-1980s. Her music emphasizes concise songwriting, supple melodic lines and a hushed vocal, in an aesthetic that revisits retro forms without reducing them to mere pastiche. In 2022 she released the EP Détends-Toi on the Cosmic Romance label, a first format that clearly frames this musical approach between original songs, a dub sensibility and references to the French underground of that period. Alongside her productions, Stella plays an active role in the Berlin scene as a DJ, with a practice nourished by record culture and a collective relationship to the dancefloor. This activity continues on stage with Stella and the Longos, a project formed with Ed Longo, producer and co-writer of Détends-Toi, who accompanies Stella in a live format that connects song, groove and the heritage of dance music.
