On 4 November 2026, Fresku will perform at PLT - Theater Heerlen. The Eindhoven native with Curaçaoan roots brings his Dutch-language rap—full of humour, self-deprecation and sharp observation—to the stage, with stories about identity, fatherhood and everyday life. For this show he expands his palette with the Metropole Orkest: his tracks gain new colors, from cinematic strings to a tight rhythm section, giving his timing, wordplay and storytelling extra space. More intimate numbers lean toward songs for listening, while more direct tracks keep their punch but land in a richer sonic landscape. Between the jokes and winks there is also the reflection Fresku is known for: personal, accessible and clearly expressed.
The Metropole Orkest, the Dutch jazz and pop orchestra that straddles the line between big band and symphonic traditions, is experienced in crossovers with hip hop, soul and electronic music. With arrangers and conductors such as Vince Mendoza and Jules Buckley and collaborations with a wide range of soloists, they translate repertoire into an orchestral setting without losing the groove. In Heerlen they will rework Fresku’s catalogue into new arrangements, play with dynamics and let strings, brass and percussion align with his flow. An evening where lyrics and orchestra find each other, without losing the energy of the rap.
