Info

On 5 May 2026, Glen Hansard will perform at SPOT/De Oosterpoort in Groningen. The Irish songwriter and frontman of The Frames brings his mix of raw folk-rock and fragile ballads to the north, with songs built on strong melodies and direct lyrics.

Since 1990 Hansard has established a permanent place in Irish rock with The Frames, releasing albums such as Fitzcarraldo and Burn the Maps. He became known worldwide through the film Once (2006), featuring Markéta Irglová; the song “Falling Slowly” won an Academy Award and has become a staple in his set. That was followed by a stage adaptation of Once and a solo path that began with Rhythm and Repose (2012), continued with Didn’t He Ramble and the adventurous This Wild Willing (2019). Along the way he has collaborated with artists including Eddie Vedder and Robbie Robertson and paid tribute to Jason Molina with a dedicated EP.

Live, Hansard moves effortlessly between intimate and exuberant, from whisper-soft moments to driving intensity. Expect a set that connects new material with favourites from The Frames era and, of course, a nod to Once. Stories, dynamics and songs that blossom further on stage: an evening in which his journey from street musician to seasoned songwriter comes through clearly.
