Band Of Friends brings Rory Gallagher’s music back to the stage on 13 March 2026 at Metropool, Hengelo. Central is bassist Gerry McAvoy, Gallagher’s longtime companion and the driving force behind the project. At his side is guitarist Marcel Scherpenzeel, who lays down the lead parts with a fiery, melodic tone while leaving space for slide, improvisation and the kind of tension-building Gallagher was known for. The band plays the repertoire with an emphasis on live energy: raw blues, solid rock riffs and those slow, smouldering pieces in which every detail can breathe. Without imitation, the focus is on conveying feel and timing, with extended instrumental passages and interplay that revolves around dynamics and interaction.
