Marillion

On 22 October 2026 Marillion will perform at Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. The British progressive rock band formed in the late 1970s in Aylesbury and blends the legacy of the 1970s with a more direct songwriting approach. In the early 1980s the group drew attention with singer Fish and albums such as Script for a Jester’s Tear (1983), Fugazi (1984) and Misplaced Childhood (1985): long, melodic compositions with a narrative bent. In the late 1980s Steve Hogarth took over vocal duties and shifted the sound toward a more introspective, atmospheric approach, audible on Seasons End (1989) and Brave (1994).

The steady lineup of Steve Rothery, Mark Kelly, Pete Trewavas, Ian Mosley and Hogarth has since operated as a close-knit collective, both in the studio and on stage. Albums such as Marbles (2004), F E A R (2016) and An Hour Before It’s Dark (2022) show their fondness for extended forms, thematic cycles and a mix of progressive rock with pop, ambient and subtle electronic touches. Live, this translates into layered atmospheres, carefully constructed dynamics and room for the songs to breathe, with an emphasis on melody and lyrics.
