Info
On 29 May 2026 Zucchero will perform with Overdose d’amore GOLD at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam. Born Adelmo Fornaciari in Reggio Emilia, he emerged in the 1980s as one of the distinctive voices at the intersection of blues, soul and Italian pop-rock. Through Sanremo and his work as a songwriter he achieved national breakthrough, after which Blue’s (1987) anchored his sound: blues structures with pop choruses and melodies that touch the Italian canzone. He continued that trajectory with Oro incenso & birra (1989) and Miserere (1992), the latter yielding a duet with Luciano Pavarotti.
In the decades that followed, Zucchero explored new colours without abandoning his foundations. From Spirito DiVino (1995) and Blue Sugar (1998) to Shake (2001) and Fly (2006), and on to La session cubana (2012), Black Cat (2016) and D.O.C. (2019): Italian and English alternate, with influences from gospel, rhythm and blues and sometimes Latin music, always built around voice and melody. Collaborations with the likes of Eric Clapton and B.B. King broadened his reach and took him on long European and American tours, sometimes electric, sometimes in a more rootsy setting.
In Amsterdam that journey comes together in a set that showcases his many faces: raw and warm, intimate and forceful, with songs that have been embraced by multiple generations.
