Since 1996, Berlin hip-hop heavyweights Marc Hype & Runex have celebrated their birthday with the Legendary Birthday Ball. Over the years the Ball has hosted guests such as Pete Rock, The Poets of Rhythm, Nightmares on Wax and Jeru the Damaja, proving its musical integrity and cultural relevance.
2026 marks the 30th edition of the Legendary Birthday Ball and welcomes The Beatnuts from New York live on stage on 27 March 2026 at 22:59 at Gretchen.
When it comes to raw, sample-drenched ’90s hip-hop, you can’t get past The Beatnuts. The Queens duo are known for punchy boom‑bap beats, dusty jazz and Latin samples, and hooks that stay in your head and make you move.
