On Friday, 13 March 2026, from 22:59, Gretchen in Berlin will host a night that brings together three artists from the world of bass-oriented sounds, each with their own musical signature that together form a cohesive whole.

Giovanni Jano, better known as JAEL, is a Moluccan recording artist, producer, DJ and singer from the Netherlands. Raised in a musical household and surrounded by Moluccan folk music as well as gospel, soul, funk and Japanese funk, he blends these diverse influences with garage, jungle, drum'n'bass and electronic bass music into club nights that tell a distinct musical story. The combination of these genres, paired with his knack for flow and reading the crowd, delivers driving grooves, surprising twists and a thoroughly danceable experience.

The evening is given additional depth by DJ Cobra di Ma and Kutmah.

DJ Cobra di Ma presents a wide selection of grooves and vibes from around the world and across eras, ranging from experimental beats to bass-heavy club sounds.

DJ, producer and beatmaker Kutmah was part of the LA beat scene. He founded the club night Sketchbook, which is regarded as formative for that scene. As a member of Flying Lotus’s Brainfeeder collective, his mixes became known on the US West Coast. His sound combines abstract, fractured beats with jazz and soul samples, experimental electronica and deep sub-frequencies, moving between leftfield hip-hop, bass music and avant-garde club music.
