The Musical Box

Montreal-based The Musical Box presents its Genesis project at Salle Wilfrid‑Pelletier on January 16, 2027. Founded in the early 1990s, the group concentrates on the first half of the 1970s, meticulously reconstructing the atmosphere of Genesis stage productions from that era. Drawing on archival materials, they recreate entire tours with the original running order, theatrical costumes, slides, and lighting cues, tracing the transition from the Peter Gabriel years into the early A Trick of the Tail period.

Centered on musicians from the local rock scene, the lineup has changed over time while remaining faithful to a single objective: to let the songs breathe as they were presented then. Where possible, they employ period textures and detailed scenic work that frames the music rather than modernizing it. With the endorsement of former Genesis members, The Musical Box has obtained permission to use certain original visuals and stage elements, lending the performance a documentary quality. The result is a precise, lived-in journey through early Genesis, performed live on a stage configured to reflect the scale of those original tours.
