The Musical Box

Founded in the early 1990s in Montreal, Canada, The Musical Box is a tribute band devoted to Genesis’s repertoire from the first half of the 1970s. Rooted in progressive and symphonic rock, The Musical Box seeks to recreate on stage Genesis’s historic tours, reconstructing the running order, sets, lighting, and costumes from archival materials. The project coalesced around musicians from Montreal’s rock scene; while the lineup has evolved over time, it has remained focused on Genesis’s so‑called “Peter Gabriel” period and the early “A Trick of the Tail” era. The Musical Box has focused primarily on live performance, presenting series of concerts in mid- and large-capacity theaters and venues across North America, Europe, and South America. Endorsed by former members of Genesis, the group has secured the necessary permissions to use the music, certain period projections, and original staging elements in its recreations.
