Fischer-Z is coming to Bremen: on 28 October 2026 John Watts and his band will take the stage at the Metropol Theater Bremen for an evening that moves between New Wave, post‑punk and rock. Rooted in the late‑1970s London scene, Fischer‑Z has always borne Watts’s distinctive stamp — he is the songwriter, singer and guitarist — while the lineup has changed over time. The early albums Word Salad (1979), Going Deaf for a Living (1980) and Red Skies Over Paradise (1981) set the framework: political observations, everyday stories and dry wit; songs like “So Long” and “Berlin” are closely associated with this period. After a hiatus in the 1980s the project returned with new collaborators, becoming more melodic in tone without losing sight of social issues: Reveal (1987), Fish’s Head (1989) and Destination Paradise (1992) mark this phase. Later albums include Ether (2002), This Is My Universe (2016), Swimming in Thunderstorms (2019) and Till the Oceans Overflow (2021) — continuity rather than nostalgia. Live, angular riffs meet distinctive New Wave keys and choruses that hook immediately: the terrain Fischer‑Z has been confidently occupying for years.
